I stumbled across a super interesting thought on the internet the other day and I can’t remember where I saw it. But the question was whether or not people should be starting or growing a family when things are so questionable.
There is violence, hate, intolerance, and so, so much more – pardon my French – crappy stuff going on all around the world so why would you want to bring a child into a situation like this.
That’s when I knew my #atozchallenge would be I for Investing.
Now I don’t mean putting your money into an account hoping to gain more money in the future.
But the concept is the same, and I will explain.
Yes, times are maybe not the most ideal at the moment. I have fears and doubts about all the headlines I read everyday.
So the question about growing a family, having a child who has no choice, in hard, scary times has definitely crossed my mind in the last few months.
But here’s the thing.
We are investing. By growing our family we are investing in the potential of a brighter future.
In my child I see unlimited potential. In the hope of having more children someday, I see unlimited potential.
My child, your child, the child next door could be the next president, the doctor to save a life, the scientist to cure cancer, the peacemaker to bring everyone together.
Better yet, he or she could be the kind stranger who shows love , kindness and understanding in the simplest yet most important ways.
And our job as parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncle’s, grandparents, friends, babysitters, teachers, role models, etc. Is to invest in a brighter tomorrow by raising and teaching love, acceptance, hope and faith to these young children who will determine the future of this world.
So, no I’m not afraid to bring children into this world. I trust in God’s plan and have faith that today’s children will be tomorrow’s hope.
I see the concern.
But I see the power of faith and I see the brighter tomorrow.
I will invest in that.
