I’m sitting in our living room with a little one napping in my arms (we had a bit of a sleepless night last night) and gazing out of our big window that looks out on to the quiet neighborhood street.
It’s a still morning and the green leaves on the trees are only moving slightly against the bright blue sky.
*sigh* I never thought living in town would be so great. I grew up out in the country where my family lived on 80 acres of land. There were some fields and some wooded areas. I loved being out away from civilization.
But now here I am totally in love with our little neighborhood.
I bet you’re thinking, “Wait. What? I thought you were married to a farmer…and you live in town?”
Yup, pretty much. The first thing people assume about us is that because my hubby farms that we live on a farm.
But nope. Not yet.
In a couple years we will move out to the farm but until then we live in town, tucked away into a nice neighborhood just on the edge of the small city.

From our front picture window, which lets in TONS of natural light, we face our neighbors’ homes, the street which only seems to get busy a couple of times a day and friends going for walks in the afternoon.

Then just a few steps into our dining room we can look out the windows of our three seasons porch and the view is completely different. The green grass of our backyard stretches until it meets the edge of a strip of prairie land. Beyond the prairie land there is a plot of farm land which is fun to watch during the busy times of fall and spring.
It’s beautiful.
I never thought I would love living in town so much. I love small town life but I love country living even more.
Here we get the best of both worlds. It’s like a beautiful mullet of lifestyles, city in the front country in the back.
That is just the best starter home for our little family.

So tell me what your favorite part is about where you live? Would you change anything or do you love it just the way it is? Is it small town, city, country or backwoods?
