At the beginning of the summer I posted a summer bucket list, which you can check out rigghhhht here. And this list was actually sort of momentous because this was the first summer I could do as I please without covering lots of summer events for work. So I made a bucket list and I think my husband remembered the items better than I did. Even if it was subconsciously.

But. I digress.

One of the items in my bucket list was to go to our county fair, the Faribault County Fair, with my little family and we did just that! (Editor’s Note: yes we did go to the county fair despite the temps being in the humid 100s at the time.)

So without further ado…I promise…here are…

My top 5 favorite things about the county fair

1. Food!

food

We ate BBQ. We ate home cooking. We ate milk shakes from the Dairy stand. And we ate fried foods, of course!

2. Animals

Animals

I just love visiting the 4H and FFA stands and barns at the fair. Both are such great organizations for kids and I love seeing all their hard work. Plus, the animals are cute.

3. History Lane

Harrison is being read to in the old schoolhouse on History Lane. Fun!

The History Lane at our county fair is awesome! The Historical Society is totally dedicated to preserving the buildings and sharing what they know with visitors. This makes it so fun to visit History Lane and to see all the old tractors!

4. The entertainment

Our fair has a grandstand and a tent where they have some type of entertainment everyday. And, I have to say, while the music is good, my favorite night at the grandstand is the demolition derby….any one else?

5. All the friendly faces.

The friendliest face of all!

The friendliest face of all!

Last but not least is seeing all of the friendly faces roaming about. We run into a lot of people we know at our county fair, but even if we didn’t, just seeing all the happy people enjoying the fair is worth the trip!

So let’s hear it…

Do you attend a county fair or town celebration in your area during the summer? Maybe you even go to the Faribault County Fair, too. What’s your favorite part about fairs?
